The scientific and technical advice for the preparation of the City Urban Plan of Boscoreale was entrusted, through public tender, to the research group TeMALab in 2011. The work was carried out in two phases. The first was the scientific support for the preparation of the Preliminary Plan (cognitive Framework and Strategy Paper) and the Preliminary Environmental Report, subject to public consultation under the rules of the Campania Region. Subsequently, the research team has provided scientific support to the office of the City Plan in the preparation of the Structure Plan and the Environmental Report. The plan is based on a number of strategic objectives aimed at increasing the livability of the urban system of Boscoreale and its overall value. The territory has a system for potential resources of great interest. Such as the proximity to the National Park of Vesuvius, the archaeological importance of its territory, and the quality of agricultural production there. These resources need to be coordinated in the system and implanted into a high quality urban environment.

TeMALab has provided scientific support to the City of Naples to define the Strategic Plan for the Western and the Eastern quadrant of the city, the proposal was approved by Resolution of the City Council No. 197 of 23/02/09. The scientific activities have resulted in the drafting of the study on “The potential of Bagnoli in building a well-connected, competent and creative Naples” and the preparation of the study on “The east area of Naples to build a competent, well connected and creative city.”.

The scientific advice for AMRA, the center of competence in the field of Analysis and Monitoring of Environmental Risk, entrusted to DIPIST, was related to the creation of databases and their representation in alphanumeric graphics form (GIS). The contribution of researchers allowed the creation of “critical scenarios of hydrological events useful in the drafting of provincial and municipal contingency plans “, the ” Risk Scenarios of the Campania coastal erosion and related models” and the implementation of the “Integrated System for the advanced recognition and control of hydrological extreme events “.

Researchers at TeMALab brought a significant and rigorous scientific and technical support in the preparation of the Preliminary Provincial Territorial Coordination Plan (TCP) adopted by Resolution of the Provincial Council n. 51 of 22/04/04. The preliminary plan is an important step in the process of preparation of the first PTCP; it anticipates the contents of the final PTCP and identifies visions, guidelines and strategic objectives, which could inform the transformation interventions that may be needed in the short term. The Preliminary of the Province of Avellino is an instrument of government of transformation of the territory that can be a point of reference for urban and territorial transformations necessary in Irpinia.

Researchers of TeMALab supplied scientific support on “The analysis of the static suitability and seismic vulnerability of buildings throughout the municipality”, as part of the agreement between the Department of Structural Analysis and Design (DAPS) University “Federico II” of Naples and the City of Naples. The scientific activity was aimed at defining criteria to evaluate static vertical loads of concrete buildings in the City of Naples, with particular reference to those built in the 50s – 70s, and the application to urban pilot areas for an evaluation of seismic vulnerability.

Researchers in the TeMALab laboratory have provided scientific and technical support within the Project ATHENA (Pilot project to test a fleet of vehicles with minimum environmental impact and for the construction of a telematics system of supervision, monitoring and information for traffic management and environmental improvement in the urban area of Naples), as part of the agreement between the City of Naples and the IPiGeT for the development of the Territorial Roads Registry as support of the mobility and Traffic Service. In particular, the activities involved the analysis, review and integration of the structure of the Geographic Information System of the road inventory.

Researchers at the TeMALab laboratory have provided scientific and technical support in the elaboration of the acoustics Zoning Plan of the City of Naples in collaboration with the DETEC (Departments of Energy Applied Thermal Fluid Dynamics and Environmental Constraints). The acoustic zoning plan, approved by resolution of the City Council No. 204 of 21/12/01, integrates the general plan, constituting one of the reference tools to ensure environmental protection and to address the appropriate action to restore the noise levels below the norm limits.

Researchers at the laboratory TeMALab have provided scientific and technical support in the elaboration of the Urban Parking Program (PUP) of the City of Naples, approved by Resolution of the City Council No. 283 of 03/08/99. Technical result of a scientific-methodological workshop, the PUP main purpose was to reorganize and adapt the network of parking spaces, especially in areas with high concentration of activities and services for continuity and consistent with the territorial government instruments and mobility in force across the capital. Its was divided into three phases: preparation of the cognitive framework of the sector instrumentation; identification of the residential parking demand, the non residential parking demand, parking offer and the definition of the free areas; construction of the urban parking network and definition of actions to be implemented in the period 1998-2000.

TeMALab researchers have provided scientific and technical support in the preparation of the materials for the nationwide Ideas Competition “Solutions along the sea formed by the portion of Via Caracciolo between Piazza della Repubblica and the confluence between Viale Dohrn and Via Caracciolo its connection with the Villa Comunale, as part of the overall reorganization of the coastline between Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza della Vittoria”; notice published in the Gazette IV special series n. 75 of 25/10/98.
